meet the team:
Dr. Ju Lu
Dr. Ju Lu is an assistant professor of biological sciences at Lehigh University. With an interdisciplinary background at the interface of neurobiology, engineering, and informatics, he seeks to understand the computational rules underlying information processing in the brain and to translate the knowledge into applications in medicine. He is also interested in philosophy, history, and languages. He is enthusiastic about the dialogue between art and brain science.
Dr. Yi Zuo
Dr. Yi Zuo is a neuroscience professor at University of California Santa Cruz. She studies the neural basis of learning, memory and cognitive plasticity, primarily using microscopic imaging. She is also passionate about art and education. For many years, she has organized and taught imaging courses at the Marine Biological laboratory at Woods Hole, MA, and Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience. Through this project, she hopes to explore the relationship between visual art and brain function and to raise the general public’s interest in neuroscience. You can find her lab webpage.
Talia Lieberman
Talia is a multidisciplinary artist currently living and working in Los Angeles. Through her experience working in art museums, galleries, and non-profits, Talia is fascinated by the biological experience of art-making and art-viewing, which can be interpreted through many disciplines. Broadly, she is interested in the intersection of art, neurobiology, economics, philosophy, and psychology. Talia will be beginning her PhD in Economics at UCLA in 2024 where she hopes to study art markets, art as a public good, public financing of creative institutions, and determinants of creativity and human capital. You can find some of her artwork at www.talia-lieberman.com.
